Greece in photos and words

Peloponnese-

The Peloponnese is the large southern region of Greece, shaped rather like a hand. It's a magical place, a tourist's paradise. It has everything - the wonderful Venetian town of Nafplio with its three castles; the fabulous ruins of Epidavros, Mycenae and Tiryns and many other ancient sites; the glorious remains of the Byzantine hillside town of Mystras; ancient and modern Sparta under the thrall of the magnificent Taygetos Mountains; the enigmatic Middle Ages/twenty-first century working Byzantine town of Monemvasia; the bleak tower towns of the Mani country and its tiny secluded beauty spots; the northern town of Diokopto at the foot of the stunning Vouraikos Gorge, where the rack-and-pinion train track heads up to the ski country... These pictures will enthral you.
