ATHENS TWO

Continuing the views of the Athens Plaka, I have included fascinating street scenes, with colourful shops and sidewalk tavernas, with musicians and dancers. In Monastiraki, there are street vendors offering fruit, jewellery, sweets and even balloons, while the eclectic shops range from souvenirs to the flea market which features amazing kitsch . Right in the middle of the shopping precinct is the eleventh century Church of Kapnikarea. Near the Temple of Zeus is the Zapion Exhibition Hall and the fourth century BC Panathenaic Stadium which was completely restored in 1895 and a venue during the 2004 Olympics. I have also included street scenes of the attractive district of Kolonaki and great pictures of a fruit and vegetable street market in Kolonaki. Lastly, I captured some shots outside Parliament of the Changing of the Guard. The final two pictures are of a busy street in Piraeus, port of Athens, with a Highspeed ferry ready for embarkation to the islands.
