Athens One

On this page you will find Athens at your feet - vistas of the city from the Acropolis and from Lykavittos Hill. Here are the gateways to the Parthenon, the Erechtheion with the Caryatids (the maiden columns), the Theatre of Dionysos and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. As my pictures were taken at the time of the reconstruction of the Parthenon, I have included some of the amazing scaffolding and the work in progress. Columns, pediments, stone walls and even just stacks of stone all make wonderful pictures. Other views include the Temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian’s Gate, the Agora, the Tower of the Winds - all are overshadowed by the wonderful Acropolis. The tourist train in the Agora is fun, and the apartments from my hotel window show a different glimpse of life in Athens. Finally, two views of street scenes in the Plaka.
